Description Details: Origin: Afghanistan Age: Circa 1950 Dimensions: 5″ long, 3″ tall Description: This lapis lazuli lion statue was hand carved by a master artist in Afghanistan from one solid piece of lapis lazuli that was found in the country’s mines. Lion carvings like this one were usually given as gifts to the chiefs of villages to acknowledge their power and kingdom, as well as their humility and wisdom. It is in good shape for it’s age but is missing a leg.
